During a conversation with U.S. Surgeon General Vice Admiral Vivek Murthy, the star of Only Murders in the Building discussed the importance of social connection and highlighted the community Selena has built. Murthy commended the Rare Beauty founder for her efforts in promoting self-acceptance, support, and healing on a global scale.
In October 2023, the former Disney Channel actress organized the first Rare Impact Fund Benefit at Nya Studios in Hollywood. During her speech, she candidly revealed her struggles before receiving a bipolar disorder diagnosis, which provided her with the tools to navigate challenging times. She shared that she had battled with inner turmoil and feelings of hopelessness until the diagnosis shed light on her struggles.
